ANVIL AND LOOM: FOUNDATION The Legendary, Lairs, and Tabletop Tools Update Release 0.1.3 | October 20, 2026 | Windows 64-bit Roll the dice. Draw your world. Make it yours. ABOUT FOUNDATION Foundation is a free tabletop workspace for playing from your own books. Draw dungeons and overland maps, roll physical 3D dice, keep a linked journal, create personal tables, and maintain your characters and equipment. This update adds manual sheet and mapping support for 2d6 Legendary Dungeon and Lairs, compact character and creature aids, optional damage previews, and a complete presentation pass across the right-hand tool panel. Game records are editable and player-created. Foundation provides fields, tracks, templates, and dice aids; your books supply the rules and content. The included example equipment and creature are original editable examples. Rulebooks, published encounter tables, and published creature collections are not included. WHAT IS NEW - Legendary Dungeon mode on the 2d6 Dungeon character sheet. - Separate XP and Spectral Points, a Poisoned track, elemental tags, Kaladear's favor, Spectral Powers, crystals, and floor reminders. - Extra Impact and Armor Enhancement equipment templates with drag-and-drop. - Configurable dungeon boundaries, Lair layout presets, and rough cavern walls. - An eraser for shared walls, one tile at a time. - Large live dimensions beside the cursor while drawing rooms and corridors. - Player and creature/NPC snapshot aids with their own paired dice rolls. - Maneuver highlighting, damage rolls, bonuses, and optional defense previews. - A consistent, compact design across all seven right-panel tabs. GETTING STARTED 1. Create or open a campaign. Choose 2d6 Dungeon for its four-tab character sheet: Character, Magic & favor, Inventory, and Narrative. 2. Enter your character's information from your own records and rulebook. 3. Draw a room or corridor. The dimension badge shows its size in squares. 4. Name the place and add notes through Maps or the Current Place panel. 5. Add your own Equipment, Bestiary entries, and Tables on the right. 6. Roll from the Dice Tray, a saved expression, a table, or a snapshot aid. 7. Open the left-hand Journal icon for the current floor's numbered index. The Icon guide on the left explains the main controls in one sentence each. The following sections describe the additions in this update. LEGENDARY DUNGEON CHARACTER SUPPORT Open the 2d6 Dungeon character sheet. Fill Legend status to 10/10, then click the star to its left to activate Legendary Dungeon mode. The filled star shows that the mode is active. Click it again to turn the mode off; the additional values are retained. Character tab - XP and SP have separate fields, so experience and Spectral Points can be recorded independently. - Bloodied and Soaked retain eight pips each. Poisoned adds five pips. Each counter sits beside its heading, above the pips. - Immunities and Vulnerabilities offer color-coded COLD, ICE, HEAT, and FIRE tags. Click a tag to add or remove it. - HP increases by floor provides five manual checkboxes. Record changes to current HP, baseline HP, and SP yourself. Magic & favor tab - Kaladear, the Creator, appears below the original six gods with a favor track and a distinct emblem. - Spectral Powers supports permanent and other powers, SP cost, components, requirements, casting time, duration, effects, gem enhancements, source references, usage/reset reminders, and an optional dice expression. - A Used checkbox records a power's current use. Mark and reset it yourself. - Current floor effects stores Level Orbit Effects and other floor notes. These belong to the active dungeon floor and also appear in its journal export and the map tools. Inventory tab - Crystals has individual quantity fields for Amber, Quartz, Opal, Jade, Amethyst, and Lapis Lazuli. Create a Spectral Power in Equipment and drag it to the sheet's Spectral Powers section, or use Add power to choose an entry or create one there. Rolling its expression creates a result; costs, components, durations, and effects remain under your control. ELEMENTAL TAGS, EXTRA IMPACTS, AND ARMOR ENHANCEMENTS These editable tools are available for 2d6 Dungeon entries even when the character has not activated Legendary Dungeon mode. Creature and NPC cards - Immunities and Vulnerabilities appear below Mishap and Prime Attack. - Add or remove the same COLD, ICE, HEAT, and FIRE tags used on the sheet. - Mishap retains its 1/1 pair; Prime Attack retains its 6/6 pair. Extra Impacts 1. Create an Equipment entry and choose Extra Impact. 2. Enter a name, short tag, level, bonus damage, damage type, effect, and optional source/page reference. 3. Drag it onto the Primary or Secondary die of a maneuver. 4. Use the maneuver's dice editor to inspect, edit, replace, or remove it. Primary and Secondary can each hold an independent impact. Its badge and color-coded damage appear alongside the die. Bonus damage can be a number or a supported dice expression. Narrative effects remain visible for you to resolve. Earlier elemental bonuses are retained when opening older saves. Armor Enhancements 1. Create an Equipment entry and choose Armor Enhancement. 2. Enter its name, level, additional reduction, healing, special effect tag, effect, and optional source/page reference. 3. Drag it onto an armor piece or its Enhancements area. 4. Expand an attached enhancement to edit or remove it. Each armor piece accepts up to three enhancements. Its Protection summary combines explicit numeric reductions. Healing expressions can be rolled separately; update HP yourself. Conditional effects and ambiguous formulas remain written reminders. Attached records are independent copies. Changing a library entry later does not silently change the copy already on a character or creature. LAIR AND DUNGEON MAPPING Open Maps on the right and expand Layout & boundary. Available presets - Lair: caves / swamp, 25 x 25, rough walls. - Lair: mine, 25 x 25, straight walls. - Lair: basins, 30 x 30, rough walls. - Haunted house, 11 x 11, straight walls. - Legendary Dungeon, 30 x 30, straight walls. Presets set the current floor's guide and wall style. Adjust width, height, origin column, and origin row as needed. The haunted-house preset is sized for its first two floors; set the loft's dimensions yourself. The boundary is a visual guide. You can still draw beyond it. Applying a preset or changing wall style preserves existing rooms, numbers, and notes. Use Center map to fit a configured boundary into view. Choose Straight for masonry and buildings or Rough for caverns and swamps. Rooms keep their grid dimensions with either presentation. Shared-wall eraser - Select Erase shared wall from the map toolbar. - Hover over a shared edge to preview the tile segment. - Click to remove that segment from both neighboring room walls. - Use Undo to restore it. The eraser acts on shared room/corridor walls. Exterior walls and room interiors are not erased. Doors and other opening symbols continue to clear the wall beneath themselves and restore it when moved or removed. Drawing dimensions - A large badge above the cursor displays width x height in squares. - Corridors stay one tile thick along their chosen direction. - The displayed dimensions follow the current drag and zoom. SNAPSHOT AIDS AND DICE The Dice Tray now includes a compact player aid with editable HP and Shift, condition tracks, armor, and maneuver information from the active sheet. Drag a personal creature or NPC from Bestiary onto the main map area, or use its + button, to create an independent snapshot with its own dice tray. Multiple snapshots can coexist. Closing a snapshot leaves its library entry available. Each snapshot has a ROLL button for 2d6 in Primary/Secondary colors. The main Dice Tray's expression builder and larger dice pools remain available. Additional dice still receive their own landing cards. Using a maneuver 1. Roll the snapshot's Primary/Secondary pair. 2. Review the maneuvers highlighted by the available Shift. 3. Click a highlighted maneuver to roll its written damage and bonuses. 4. Read the result and any effects that need your decision. The aid keeps the original pair and records the maneuver result. Explicit numeric and supported dice bonuses are included, along with the displayed exact/Prime player bonus where applicable. Each snapshot uses its own roll. Optional damage preview 1. After a maneuver roll, choose the defender. 2. Click one highlighted armor piece or interrupt to apply its reduction. 3. Click it again, or use Remove, to clear the selection. 4. Review damage + bonuses - reduction = final damage. 5. Choose Record damage to save a separate result, then adjust HP yourself. Eligible defenses follow the maneuver's Primary/Secondary faces. Numeric armor enhancement reductions are included once. Natural Prime attacks bypass these defenses. A natural 6 in the base damage dice retains the one-damage minimum shown by the preview. Record damage preserves the chosen defender and defense details in a new result at the place where the maneuver roll began. Changing the preview afterward does not rewrite an earlier record. These are player-operated aids. HP, elemental interactions, conditions, resources, healing, turn order, and narrative effects remain manual. THE SEVEN RIGHT-PANEL TABS All tabs now use consistent headings, counts, search fields, action buttons, and spacing. Icon tooltips identify each tab. While a tab button has focus, Left/Right arrows move between tabs; Home/End selects the first/last tab. Results - Compact cards show the roll's title, time, and a short preview. - Open a card for the full result and any saved table snapshot. - Add a result to the selected room or region with one click. - Search the record, clear previous results from the panel, or Undo clear. - Clearing Results preserves the original records and journal links. Tables - Search by name or optional table code. - Import CSV/text or paste entries; edit existing tables in the same editor. - Roll is the main action. Edit, Export CSV, and Remove use compact buttons. - Drag a table heading onto a hotbar slot for quick access. Maps - Select the current map or create a dungeon/overland map. - Map details, Layout & boundary, and Floor effects fold away. - Search places and pins by number, name, or notes. - Selected-place details appear above the numbered list, even on large maps. - Edit a place, open its journal, place the player, or link a dungeon. - Overland terrain and region colors are in the selected region's details. Symbols - The key switches between dungeon and overland symbols automatically. - Search or collapse categories to find an icon quickly. - Click an icon and then the map, or drag it onto the map. - The selected-symbol strip shows what will be placed; Stop ends placement. - Placed symbols remain draggable and snap to centers, corners, and edges. Equipment - Compact category lists show names and useful detail previews. - Collapse individual categories or use Collapse all / Expand all. - Open an entry to edit; drag it onto a matching slot or use + for inventory. Bestiary - Creature and NPC categories use the same searchable layout as Equipment. - Cards follow the active sheet's game format and remain editable. - 2d6 Dungeon entries can be dragged onto the map or added with + as snapshots. Inventory - Select the character whose items you want to view. - Edit names and quantities directly; expand an item for its notes. - Search names, equipment types, and notes. - Use the single Add to inventory field fixed at the bottom of every tab. Existing names reuse matching equipment; missing names create generic items. TOOLS THAT REMAIN AVAILABLE - Named dice expressions, including Attack Roll and Room Size on new campaigns' default hotbars; both are paired 2d6 expressions. - Larger physical dice pools, held dice, rerolls, role colors, and sound. - Overland hex regions, region colors, labels, pins, and linked maps. - A numbered journal per map/floor, manual entries, and Markdown export. - Personal tables with codes such as ROOM or ROOM-11 and highlighted result snapshots of up to seven entries. - Manual progress tracks with 1-12 pips, inline links, and pinned cards. - Multiple editable sheets and template import/export. - Local PDF references, bookmarks, remembered reading positions, and copyable page references in supported text fields. - Light/dark themes, undo/redo for manual edits, campaign recovery copies, and portable campaign exports. UPGRADING AND EXISTING CAMPAIGNS Existing campaigns open with their saved maps, notes, inventory, and sheets. New fields are added as needed. Legendary details remain stored when their mode is turned off. Older development saves may have used one shared XP/SP field. If a review notice appears, check the separate XP and SP totals and choose Totals checked. The previous value is preserved so you can confirm how it should be recorded. Export a campaign backup before moving between application versions. Desktop campaigns are stored under: Documents/Anvil_Foundation_Tabletop/Campaigns Desktop and browser preview saves are separate. Linked local PDFs stay on the device; relink them if their files move or you move to another computer. INSTALLATION AND APP UPDATES For a manual installation, extract Foundation-0.1.3-Update.zip and run Foundation-0.1.3-Setup.exe. The ZIP also contains updater metadata. Updater-capable installed builds check the Foundation website feed shortly after launch. An available version is indicated in Updates. You can also check manually in the update controls. Choose Download update, then Save and install when it is ready. Foundation waits for the open campaign to save before restarting. Downloads and installs are user-initiated. Browser preview does not install desktop updates. Version 0.1.0 requires a manual replacement with an updater-capable installer. Windows installers are currently unsigned. Use the download supplied through the Foundation mailing list and anvil-and-loom.com.
